With origins in an undergraduate research class, this site documents the history of the History Department at the University of Iowa.  By turning the historical imagination inward, this project explores how historical knowledge has been created at the University of Iowa, and how the practice and teaching of history have evolved at Iowa since the late 19th century. As a living history, the site will be augmented with new sources and stories on an ongoing basis.

For their work in researching and creating this site, the department thanks the students enrolled in Professor Tyler Priest's 2014 HIST:2151 Introduction to the History Major, as well as Professor Priest, the UI Digital Studio, and History graduate student Greg Grohman.
