This oral history collection compiles the work of students in Ph.D. Candidate Aiden M. Bettine's Fall 2019 Course, "Diversity in History: Local and Community History." As a midterm assignment, students had the opportunity to interview practitioners of local and community history, the archivists, curators, public historians, librarians, oral historians, professors, and graduate students based on campus and in Iowa City. Often behind the scenes preserving, recovering, and making accessible local and community history in Iowa, the practitioners interviewed by students take the center of our oral history collection. As a class, we would like to thank all twenty-eight of our narrators for their generosity in sharing their time and reflections with us.
